488,679. Filters. FITZGERALD, L. A. Aug. 3, 1937, No. 21371. Convention date, March 8. [Class 46] The upper end of a filter bag element is closed and the bag supported by a device comprising a plate 10, Fig. 2, with hollow central stud 16, to which the inlet pipe 24 is connected, and a clamping member 12 forced against the plate by a nut 13 screwing on the. stud 11. The inturned end 27 of the bag 23 is held between a ring 18 of resilient material like vulcanized rubber and a rubber ring 21, the rings being let in to recesses in the plate and member 12 respectively. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the bag is held between a clamping. edge 21a of the member 12 and a rubber ring 18a on the plate. The plate is formed with a recess 28 in which the end of the bag is packed and held frictionally while the clamping member is brought into position.
