Abstract

488,376. Ventilating vehicles. ANEMOSTAT (SCOTLAND), Ltd., and GALBRAITH, A. March 16, 1937, No. 1343. [Class 137] Fresh air is supplied to tram cars, or vehicles of the clerestory type having a driver's cabin at each end and a stairwell between each cabin and the lower passenger saloon, through louvred openings 1 to the cabins and through distributers 5 in partitions 6 of the stairwells 4. Suitable distributers are those described in Specifications 283,258, [Class 137], and 365,048. Another louvred inlet 7 leads to a duct 8 having a fan. 9 which, when the vehicle is standing, discharges fresh air into the saloon through distributer 10. Air inlets 13, 14 admit air to ducts 12 extending along each side of the vehicle and having distributers 15, the air entering by the forward inlet. When the vehicle is standing, fans 17 draw air through inlets 16 and discharge it through the ducts 12 and through distributers 18 into the saloon, the incoming air inducing a flow through inlets 14. Other louvred inlets are provided above the cabins, from which air passes direct to the saloon or through a ceiling distributer 23 to the cabin.
