[Class 98 (ii)] A film-splicing device comprises an axially fixed clip and a pivoted clip which is displaceable along the pivot as a guide in the direction of the length of the film. Spaced U-shaped retaining members 2 support a pivot pin 4 which carries the film clip 5. Retaining members 3 support a rod 6 for the displaceable clip which comprises a lower plate 9 hinged at 9a and an upper plate 10 hinged at 10a. A key disc 11 is arranged on the rod 6 to prevent the displacement of the plates relative to the rod. Two pins 12, 13 on the lower plate serve to locate the film thereon, and the pin 13 has an extension 13a which can be inserted in either of two apertures 14, 28 in the base 1. Film locating pins 18 on the base 1, hold the film for the clip 5. A double edged knife 18 and a pressure member 20 are pivoted on the pin 4, a file or scraper 26 is movable on a pin 24 on the film clip 5. The clips 5, 9. 10 are latched by means of projections, e.g. 9b, 10b. When the films are held on their locating pins 12, 13, 15 and between guides 16, 17, their edges are trimmed by the knife 18 and the emulsion scraped off one edge by the file 26. After applying cement, the clip 9, 10 can be raised to withdraw the pin 13a from the aperture 14 and moved until the pin 13a can be inserted in the aperture 28. The clip is then lowered and the film ends pressed into contact by the member 20.
