[Class 80 (i)] A hinge fastener for transmission and conveyer belts comprises a clamp c for attachment to each belt end and a series of continuous wire loops, Fig. 1 or Fig. 2, mounted in the clamps, the eyes a serving to accommodate the hinge pin. The clamp may be of metal, fabric, vulcanized fibre, or other pressed material. The metal clamp shown is provided with rivet holes e. When a fabric clamp is used, it may be stitched or vulcanized to the belt end. The wire loops may be passed through slots formed by pressing the fibres apart. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 shows a form comprising anchor loops of different lengths secured respectively to opposite faces of the belt ends themselves by rivets, screws, or nails. Further, the form described above in which clamps are provided may be modified by the provision on the sides of the clamps of " masses which prevent slip ". A modified form of the wire loops is shown in Fig. 3 (Cancelled), the more sharply curved parts b being secured to the belt ends. In another form, the wire loops are secured directly to the belt ends, which are folded over and sewn together. In the form shown in Fig. 17 (Cancelled), a cover-plate i is provided with loops a which intermesh with the loops on the belt ends and receive the hinge-pin m. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
