Abstract
486,905. Injector apparatus for compressing air. DELL, N. E. Feb. 8, 1937, No. 3753. [Class 71] In air entraining and compressing apparatus of the type set forth in Specification 445,337, the water falls through a vertical pipe and the air enters an inverted pipe of conical form therein. Feeding-pipes extend from the conical pipe into the water flow and increase in length in proportion to the decrease in diameter in the conical pipe. An inverted, elongated conical pipe 1 is positioned in the upper end of the falling-water pipe leg 2 of the water - circulating U-pipe 3. The upper diameter of pipe 1 is greater than half the diameter of pipe 2 ; the lower portion is of a diameter less than a quarter of the diameter of pipe 2. Downwardly - projecting, open tubes 4 radiate from the cone. The pipe 1 has an upper end 7 by which it is adjustably supported, housed in a vertical pipe 6 projecting from a chamber 5 on the pipe 3. The pipes 7, 1 are connected by a part of frustoconical form over which the water flows. The pipe 1 ends in a pipe 12 stationed from the walls of the pipe 2 by radial arms 14. The ends of the tubes 4 project to points substantially centrally of the distance between the cone and the inner wall of the pipe 2.
