[Class 40 (i)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XL] In a system of remote control for an apparatus, e.g. a robot, incorporating a television transmitter and a sound transmitter, the television transmitter is rotatably mounted and is controlled by signals generated by movements of the television receiver. The apparatus thus facilitates changing of the field of view of the transmitter to correspond to changes in the direction of viewing, e.g. by head movements, of the controlling person. Fig. 1 shows a robot apparatus embodying a sound transmitter k, a television transmitter m and a loudspeaker l mounted on a rotatable support and a movable limb r. The apparatus k, m, l is connected to corresponding receiving and transmitting apparatus b, c, a mounted on the head-band of the controlling person. Movements of the head-band effect the transmission of modulated carrier control currents over the channel h,s and the operation thereby over the circuit o of apparatus for producing corresponding movements of the apparatus k, m, l. An arm f and fingers g may be operated to cause similar movements of the limb r by transmitting modulated carrier currents of different frequencies over the channel h,s. In order to transmit back to the controlling person the effects of external interference on the limb r, e.g. when the limb engages an obstruction, signals are reverted back to the control station by apparatus t to operate apparatus which produces similar effects on the limb f. Fig. 3 shows a system for transmitting such effects. Movements of the hand e vary a resistance f which, through apparatus g, controls a contact arm h co-operating with a pair of resistances i, k on a control glove a. The resistances control magnets m, n which influence the glove a in a manner corresponding to the movements of the contact h and limb e. The movements of the body and feet of a robot may be transmitted in a similar manner and the movements may be recorded on a disc or film and reproduced later if desired. Specification 472,009, [Group XL], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes an internal-combustion engine for effecting operation of the limb of a robot constituted by a series of collapsable chambers which are extensible under the action of fuel ignited by a sparking-plug. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
