Abstract

Murexide is produced by the condensation of alloxan and uramil in alkaline solution. Rubazonic acid is prepared by treating 1-phenyl-3-methyl-pyrazole-4 : 5-dione with hydroxylamine, reducing the oxime to the amine and condensing with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-pyrazole-4 : 5-dione. The following dyes are similarly prepared: 2-(11 : 31-diketohydrindylidene)-1 : 3-diketohydrindamine, 1 : 3-diketohydrindylideneuranil, 1 : 3-diketo-2-salicylidene-hydrindamine, and 4-(11 : 31-diketohydrindylidene) -5-keto-1-phenyl-3-methyl-pyrazolamine. The dyestuff components may also be condensed with gelatine in alkaline solution to give colouring matters.
