486,252. Photographic light-sensitive material. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N. V. May 3, 1937, No. 12567. Convention date, May 2, 1936. [Class 98 (ii)] A photographic material comprises a silver halide emulsion layer in which portions of emulsion project above the general layer owing to the presence in the emulsion of a multiplicity of relatively coarse solid grains or conglomeration of grains. The grains may be incorporated in the emulsion by stirring. The grains should have a low covering power and may be organic substances, e.g. artificial resin or inorganic products, e.g. ground glass. The previous use of kieselguhr and of fibre dust (as disclosed in Specification 274,075, [Class 98 (ii)]), also is described. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes grains of a size which pass through a sieve of 20 meshes per linear centimetre. Grains of silicates or of condensation products of urea or phenol with an aldehyde may be used. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
