Abstract
485,969. Grinding or crushing mills. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F. Sept. 3, 1937, No. 24121. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1936. [Class 59] Material is ground in passing through a series of troughs separated by perforated screens and vibrated by means imparting a circular or elliptical movement in a vertical plane transversely of the troughs so that the material is fed from trough to trough toward the delivery end of the machine. As shown the troughs 1 are given a circular or elliptical motion in a vertical plane and at right angles to the troughs by eccentric oscillatory masses 2 or eccentric drive, the bed being supported on springs 3. Material is fed from a hopper 9 to the first trough where it is ground by bars 6, the fine material passing through screen 4 to the next trough. The screens may vary in mesh and the bars may vary in size, the bars in the last trough in which fine grinding occurs may be of smaller diameter and shorter in length and maintained in separate portions of the trough formed by transverse divisions. The troughs are enclosed by a cover 5 and the troughs may be connected by conduits 11 to a pipe 15 leading to a separator 16, the air being returned by blower 17 to inlet 19. The hopper and pipe connections are formed by flexible connections 10, 18 and 13 respectively. The troughs may be semicircular in shape and the screens may be inclined rearwardly. The screens may be dispensed with and the troughs formed of perforated plates through which the ground material falls, the coarse material passing successively through the troughs until it is discharged through a separate orifice. The troughs may be inclined or may be superposed so that the ground material from one trough falls into the next. When grinding material formed of parts of different hardness is to be ground, the grinding elements may be dispensed with.
