485,727. Casting kerbs &c. in situ ; vibrating-apparatus. PROCEDES TECHNIQUES DE CONSTRUCTION. Sept. 22, 1937, No. 25696. Convention date, Feb. 19. [Class 86] [Also in Group X] Travelling apparatus for moulding kerbs &c. in situ, of the kind described in Specification 282,039, [Class 107], comprises vibratory means for rendering the concrete &c. ingredients fluid and afterwards damping the vibrations whereby the material assumes a solid form as it issues from the apparatus. As shown in Fig. 2, the materials are fed to a hopper 2 in which is a vibrating tool 4. The material, rendered fluid by the vibration, is moulded by the upper surface 21 and is deposited as the hopper moves along the ground; an extension 8 is connected to the hopper by a flanged joint with rubber &c. packing whereby vibration from the hopper is damped. In a modification the extension is dispensed with, the vibrations being damped by coating the surface 2<1> with rubber or cork. As shown in Fig. 4, the extension may be provided with plates 21<1> which penetrate the ground. Rods or tubes forming reinforcements may be fed through the wall of the hopper and cast in the kerb, and hollow kerbs &c., may be formed by providing the hopper with a core or mandrel comprising an envelope carried by means of elastic rings on a rod passing therethrough and integral with the hopper.
