Abstract

484,823. Steam separators. CAIRD & RAYNER, Ltd., and REDDICK, R. F. Dec. 17,1936, No. 34732. [Class 123 (iii)] Steam separators comprising a series of baffle members disposed in the steam space of boilers or evaporators are formed of a number of concentrically arranged cylindrical baffles 4, 5, 6, disposed one within the other and supported on a base 7 having a series of separate troughs or gutters 11, 10 each communicating through openings 12 with the base of a baffle and provided with a drainage pipe. Water draining from the outer baffle 6 collects on a platform 15 supporting the separator and is discharged through a pipe 16. In a modification, the central steam inlet 9 is replaced by a closed trough, the separator being suspended from the top of the evaporator and the steam passing inwardly through the baffle members to an outlet above the central space.
