Abstract
<PICT:0484609/IV/1> Suction means are provided in the plane of the material being treated simultaneous with the spraying of oil or other equivalent oily treating liquid on wool, shoddy or like wool-containing material to accelerate the flow of oil through the material. Shoddy or like material to be treated is carried on a conveyer 1 past a zone where oil is sprayed on it from nozzles 5 and suction means are placed under the conveyer, the arrangement being such that the supply of oil is cut off when the spraying means is moved from its operative position above the material on the conveyer. The spraying means may comprise a number of nozzles 5 projecting from a substantially horizontal pipe 4 extending from a member 6 connected to a source of supply of oil, communication between the pipe 4 and member 5 being controlled by angular movement of the pipe. Similarly, a further pipe 8 connected to the nozzles 5 may be arranged to simultaneously control the supply of compressed air, the members 6, 9, which communicate with the sources of supply of oil and air respectively, being arranged concentrically.
