Abstract

483,995. Golf clubs. ALLEN, H. H. Oct. 24, 1936, No. 28929. [Class 132 (ii)] A tubular metal golfclub shaft, Fig. 1, has the rigidity of one or more portions reduced by forcing the metal inwardly at opposite sides 9 and 11 and into a plane or planes either parallel to or at right-angles to the plane of swing of the club, the extent of the inward pressing at the end parts of the flattened portion being gradual so as to provide a gentle slope between the flats and the contour of the shaft. A number of spaced longitudinal grooves are formed in the handle part by forcing the metal inwardly to form a grip or for use with the usual leather covering. Specification 256,049, [Class 132 (ii)], is referred to.
