Abstract
482,511. Resilient mountings. GETEFO GES. FUR TECHNISCHEN FORTSCHRITT. Sept. 28, 1936, Nos. 26235 and 26236. Convention dates, Sept. 28, 1935 and March 28, 1936. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXI] In the mounting of instruments or instrument panels on vehicles, particularly aircraft, by means of rubber elements projecting in cantilever manner from fixed supporting parts, means are provided for reducing the free bending length of the rubber elements as deflection or bending thereof increases, the means preferably comprising a curved metal supporting member against which the rubber element progressively bears as it bends. In Fig. 1, an instrument panel 2 is supported from brackets 3 attached to a fixed part 1 by lengths of rubber tubing 4 bonded to end attachment plates 8, 9, an internal mandrel 6, threaded so as to be adjustable and with a tapered end 7, supporting the tubing. In other forms, the tubing is surrounded by a flared shield. In a mounting for an electric thermionic tube unit or other heavy apparatus 24, Fig. 4, a number of rubber elements 20, 21 are disposed so as to maintain parallel movement. The elements are formed with enlarged ends bonded to plugs 16, 17, adapted to be secured in sockets in brackets 12, 22, fixed respectively to a wall A and the apparatus 24, the progressive support being rendered by a bent plate 27.
