[Class 37] [Also in Group XXXV] A resistance-device forming part of an electromagnetic transmission gearing comprises two carbon-pile resistances 42, 43 in a casing 76 attached to the driving member and carrying a partition 47 between the resistances. Within the casing 76 is a semicircular member 60 secured to the driven member and arranged to compress -one or the other resistance according to the direction in which the driving-member is running.
