Abstract

481,151. Pianofortes. RAYNER, W. Aug. 30, 1937, No. 23732. [Class 88 (ii)] To reduce friction with the musician's foot a damper-controlling pedal 1. in a piano or other musical instrument, has a yielding longitudinal movement of translation relatively to its roller-pivot 7. The latter engages a step 6 in the rear of the pedal, and a spring 10 is provided for maintaining contact with the roller-pivot 7 and, in the inoperative position, with the upper end of a padded opening 2 in the front of the piano. The tension of the spring is adjustable, and its inclination to the vertical can also be adjusted by the provision of a slot 15. The pedal, which is initially slightly upwardly inclined, and forwardly biassed, operates the damperrail 22 through cable a 21, passing over pulleys 24, 27, 28, the last of which is adjustable.
