Abstract

481,117. Stamp - perforation ganges. FIALA, A. E. Sept. 4, 1936, No. 24239. [Class 106 (ii)] Comprises a holder in which one edge of the stamp is held in position while a curved member provided with graduations is moved to bring the graduations against the stamp edge. A base plate 10 is provided with vertical side pieces 11, 12 to the top of which is secured by screws 17 a plate 16 provided with a rectangular slot. A U-shaped plate 19 with a bevelled front edge is located above the plate 16 and secured by the back screws 17. Supported in the members 11, 12 is a shaft 13 on which is a drum 15 provided with sets of scales. The stamp is placed under the edge of plate 19 and above plate 16 and the knob 14 rotated to bring the scale against the edge of the stamp. A top frame 26 is hinged to a bracket at 24 and carries a magnifying glass 29. A large magnifying glass 37 through which the stamp may be observed for markings is carried on a rod 33 adjustable in a bracket 31. In a modification, the stamp is placed in a holder which can be inserted in a slotted plate similar to plate 16 and in which the stamp holder may be moved about and rotated to obviate handling the stamp.
