[Class 93] [Also in Group XVI] Sheets of zinc-coated metal are treated, as by spraying, with colouring-material immediately after coating with zinc and before the zinc has completely cooled. The position of the spraying is selected so that the colouring-material is retained by the unhardened zinc or that the temperature is such as to ensure burning-in of the colour. The colouring-material, which may be in solution or in the form of undissolved powdered material such as tile or slate dust, fine sand, or the like, is sprayed from a pistol displaceable on a guide arranged transversely above the conveyer for the sheet-metal alternatively, a number of spraying-pistols may be carried by the guide at such distances apart that the whole of the metal is evenly sprayed. The guide is arranged to be longitudinally adjustable to enable spraying to be effected at the correct temperature of the moving metal. Stripping-off means may be arranged above the sheet-metal, and movable or adapted to be pressed unevenly against the metal, or the pistols may be irregularly movable or supplied with differently-coloured materials, in order that irregular colours with a camouflage effect may be produced.
