[Class 53] A battery electrode such as the positive dolly of a dry cell is provided with a coating of polyvinyl acetate or chloroacetate or polymerized acrylic acid methyl ester. Soluble materials such as salts or starch may be incorporated in the coating to increase its porosity. The coating may be applied by immersing the electrode in a solution of polyvinyl acetate in alcohol and acetone.
