Abstract
478,666. Cathode-ray tubes. FERNSEH AKT.-GES. July 23, 1936, No. 20375. Convention date, July 23, 1935. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A coil for focusing a natural-sized electron image of a large surface cathode extends over the whole length of the beam and is so constructed that the current density increases towards one or both ends of the coil. A field homogeneous along the length of the beam may be thus produced. The coil may be wound upon a cylindrical former, the thickness of which decreases in steps towards the ends, or the former may be uniform and the coil thickness increased in steps or uniformly, or additional coils may be wound onto the ends of a uniform solenoid. The different portions of the coil may carry different currents, or auxiliary currents, e.g. a current depending upon or of equal frequency with the electrostatic or electromagnetic deflecting field and superposed on a steady current. The invention is applicable to image dissectors and other television apparatus.
