Abstract

Aqueous dispersions of rubber which have been rendered heat sensitive are coagulated or solidified by subjecting them to high frequency electric currents. The process may be applied to the production of goods of or containing rubber by operations such as mass moulding, spreading, extruding or dipping from aqueous dispersions of rubber; e.g. sheets and tapes may be produced by applying the dispersion to a backing material such as cotton fabric and passing the whole through a high frequency electric field, the backing may or may not be subsequently separated from the rubber. Cellular rubber is produced if the dispersions are frothed. Dispersions such as those disclosed in Specifications 284,608, 292,964, 324,104, 326,497, 330,520, 332,525, and 335,621, [all in Class 70], may be used. Specification 290,313, [Class 70], also is referred to.
