Abstract
477,346. Directive wireless signalling. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and KEMP, R. J. June 25, 1936, No. 17692. [Class 40 (v)] To correct for quadrantal and similar asymmetric error in a radio direction-finder, an auxiliary drum C, Fig. 3, carrying a graph D, Fig. 2, showing the deviation over 360‹ is mounted just below the main scale A which rotates bodily with the frame aerial (not shown). The drum C is geared to the main shaft through skew-wheels, or otherwise, so that it rotates with every movement of the hand wheel B. In operation, the point where the sinusoidal graph D cuts the scale on the indicator A is taken as the index or pointer, and gives the corrected bearing. One half of the graph from 0‹ to 180‹ may be coloured red, and the other half green.
