Abstract
475,957. Sound-film apparatus. OGDEN, W. G. Feb. 24, 1936, No. 5568. Void. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1935. [Class 40 (ii)] [Also in Group XX] In optical sound-reproducing apparatus, the roller 13, Fig. 2, for drawing the film through the sound gate at substantially constant linear speed is driven by a belt 131 from a pulley 12 on the shaft of the constant speed motor (not shown). The sound gate may be constructed as described in French Specification 776,307 or, as shown in Fig. 8, it may consist of a twopart roller, the part 29 being fixed and the part 30 rotatable, a spring-controlled roller being provided to press the film against the part 30. In this arrangement, light from the lamp 32 is deflected by a prism 33 on to a photo-electric cell 16. Fig. 10 shows an arrangement which is stated to give accentuated reproduction of the lower notes and consists in providing in addition to the normal slit, a relatively large slit located symmetrically with respect thereto and either immediately above or beneath the film. A concave reflector 40 is provided to project a beam of controllable intensity from the lamp 17<1> on to the film.
