Abstract
475,797. Holders for packets or rolls of toilet &c. paper. SCHIFF, K. L. May 22, 1936, No. 14462. Convention date, May 27, 1935. [Class 18] In a holder for two rolls of toilet &c. paper, only one roll is freely accessible at a time, and when the paper on this roll is exhausted, movement of the support for the rolls and/or a cover for one of them renders the " out-ofuse " roll freely accessible and the " in-use " roll, substantially inaccessible. The invention is also applicable to a holder for two packets of sheets of paper. In one embodiment, two rolls 11, 12, Fig. 1, are suspended from a baseboard on the usual pivoted bow-shaped frames, and a curved shield 16 slidable along a wire 15 on the baseboard, can be adjusted to cover either roll and prevent access thereto. The rolls may be mounted between fixed cheeks 32, Fig. 3, on a board 34 which is pivoted on a stud 35 to the baseboard, the top roll being normally covered by a hinged hood 37. To use the top roll, the hood 37 is swung upwards, the board 34 rotated until the position of the two rolls is reversed, and the hood lowered again. In a modification the stud 35 passes through a vertical slot so that the board 34 will always rest in a stable position. In a further embodiment, the roll spindles extend between the side walls of a member 4, Fig. 6, which is pivoted at 44 to the side walls of a hood 43 hinged to the baseboard. Paper is drawn from the bottom roll, and to reverse the position of the rolls, the hood and member 40 are swung up as shown by the dotted lines and the member 40 rotated on the pivots 44. A core for a roll comprises a millboard tube 50, Fig. 7, and end caps 51, 52 which are supported between springy arms 58 by the engagement of the caps by an annular member 54 and a stud 67 respectively projecting from the arms. The tube and end caps may be substituted by a solid core. A holder for packets of interleaved sheets of paper is provided with delivery slots 22, Fig. 2, and either slot can be closed by a slide 25 whose inturned edges run in grooves 24. The slide is provided with a handle, and the case can be swung away from the baseboard when a new packet is to be inserted. The compartments of the holder may be arranged side by side with the delivery slots underneath. Inspection openings may be provided in the walls of the various holders. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also a modification wherein the hood 43, Fig. 6, is substituted by links or a bow pivoted to the baseboard and to the member 40. In a further modification, a frame 40<1>, Fig. 7 (Cancelled), carrying the rolls is pivoted in slots 48 in arms 43a on a baseboard 46<1>. To reverse the positions of the rolls, the frame is drawn up the slots 48, rotated, and then allowed to fall back. The slots can be formed in the frame and the pivots provided in the arms 43a. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
