Abstract

A toilet roll dispenser has a frame 1 which is attached to a wall or partition, e.g. by means of screws through holes 5. The frame has uprights 2, 3 accommodating two or more toilet roll supports 7 extending therebetween, so that two or more toilet rolls may be used. In order to hinder vandalism, one end of the shaft 6 of each roll support 7 is secured to an upright 3, e.g. by means of a washer 11 and circlip 13. The roll supports 7 may be sufficiently long each to accommodate more than one toilet roll. <IMAGE>

Description

A DISPENSER FOR TOILET PAPER OR OTHER SHEET MATERIAL This invention relates to a dispenser for toilet paper or other sheet material.
There are just a few types of toilet paper holders. All of these have a single dispensable roll or pack, and when expended require replenishing very often, especially when the toilet is part of a complex used by many people.
According to the present invention there is provided a dispenser for toilet paper or other sheet material comprising a frame having two uprights and two or more roll supports extending therebetween, at least one end of each roll support being removable from the associated upright for inserting a new roll of toilet paper or other sheet material thereon. Thus, the dispenser can be used to dispense paper from two, three or more rolls, and can continue to be used when one roll is empty. Preferably, one end of each roll support is secured to the associated upright to hinder vandalising.
Embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing 5, ih which Figure 1 is a front view of a multiroller triple (single run) toilet roll dispenser according to the invention.
Figure 2 & 3 are side views of respective uprights of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of a roll support of the dispenser of Figure 1.
Figure 5 & 6 are respective end views of the roll support of Figure 4.
Figure 7 is a perspective enlarged view of the end of the roll support.
Figure 8 is a front view of a multiroller triple (double run) toilet roll dispenser according to the invention.
In Figure 1, a dispenser comprises a frame 1 of metal or other suitable material, e.g. plastics, which is attached to a wall by fixing means, e.g. screws. The frame 1 has two uprights 2,3 interconnected by a bracket 4 for form an H shape. The bracket 4 has fixing holes 5.
Three toilet roll supports are mounted between the uprights 2,3 and each comprises a shaft 6 carrying a roller 7.
As can be seen from Figure 4 the shaft 6 has a square cross-section with one end having a reduced circular cross-section 8. The upright 2 has right-angled, open slots 9 for accommodating the square cross-section end of each shaft 6, and the upright 3 has apertures 10 accommodating the circular cross-section ends 8 of each shaft 6.
Each end 8 is held in place by means of a washer 11 and a circlip 12 mounted in an annular groove 13 (see Figure 7).
The square cross-section end of each shaft 6 carries a knob 14.
Each toilet roll support is secured in use by inserting the square cross-section end of the shaft 6 into the corresponding right-angled slot 9 and allowing it to drop to the bottom of the slot. Similarly, easy release is obtained by lifting the square cross-section end of the shaft 6 and sliding it laterally out of its slot 6, so that a toilet roll (not shown) may be slid onto the roller 7.
The second embodiment of the invention shown in Figure 8 differs from the embodiment of Figure 1 only in that each shaft 6 and roller 7 is sufficiently long to accommodate two toilet rolls (not shown) arranged end-to-end.
Various modifications may be made to the invention within the scope of the claims. Thus, the toilet roll supports could be extended to accommodate three or even more toilet rolls.
Furthermore, the dispenser could have only two, or even four or more toilet roll supports. If security is not important the shaft may be removable from upright 3, which could have similar slots 9 as in upright 2. In such a case the whole length of the shaft 6 would be square crosssection and could have a knob 14 at both ends, or the shaft could have a circular cross-section allowing it to rotate in the slots. The use of the dispenser need not be limited to toilet paper, but could be for other paper rolls such as paper towels, or rolls of other sheet material.
