Abstract
473,719. Electric clocks. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS-GES. Aug. 7, 1936, No. 21862. Convention date, Aug. 7, 1935. [Class 139] An escapement 2 including a balance wheel 1 and hairspring 3 is controlled by a device which impresses oscillations of definite frequency on the wheel 1 by way of the spring 3, the device being continuously and mechanically connected to the spring so that the latter is moved sinusoidally with respect to time in its natural direction of movement and the escapement being capable of operating when the controlling device is out of action. Curb pins embracing the hairspring are carried on an arm 4 which is mounted on a spindle 9 together with an arm 7 having a part 5 secured to the free end of the hairspring. Arm 7 is oscillated by crank 6 and gears 8, 8<1> from a synchronous motor. The balance is thus forced to oscillate synchronously with the driving motor. Arm 4 may be adjustable relatively to arm 7 ; for this, the arm 4 may be free on spindle 9 and coupled frictionally to arm 7. A small spring may be attached to arm 7 so that if the motor stops, the arm 7 is brought into a predetermined position so that arm 4 comes to rest in a suitable position.
