Abstract

471,135. Sandals; laces. FRANKLIN, H. W., and FRANKLIN & SONS, Ltd., J. G. March 12, 1936, No. 7521. [Classes 17 (ii) and 43] A sandal comprises a laminated sole member a with marginal loops, eyes or the like c projecting above the upper layer and interconnected, for example in pairs across the sole, between the layers and forming guides through which a draw lace or laces are passed so as to secure the sole to the foot. The sole may comprise layers of cork separated by layers of flexible rubber such as described in Specification 471,126. The guide loops c may be formed by folding pieces of stranded wire and twisting the ends together. The ends are then passed through some of the sole layers and connected by twisting to the wire of an opposite guide loop. The laces b are wide to distribute the pressure on the foot and may have wide portions alternating with narrow portions which latter portions engage in the guide loops.
