470,585. Extrusion-moulding machines. SIZER, A. W. March 4, 1936, No. 6514. [Class S7(ii)] In an extrusion - moulding machine for forming pellets wherein material is extruded by a worm 1 through perforations 3 in a dieplate 4 and severed on the delivery side of the die-plate, a number of knives are disposed within a minor proportion of the area of the die to sever the material a number of times during each complete extrusion impulse of the worm through a given perforation. The knives are arranged in a rotary cutting element 5 provided adjacent the die-plate, and comprising one or more blade segments 12, 13 according as one or more starts are provided on the worm. Each segment is formed with two or more blades 15a, 15b. For a single start worm there will be one segment having two or more angularly spaced blades. The blades in any one segment are disposed within 180‹ of arc for each start of the worm.
