[Class 100 (i)] Pile supports.-A box or holder for labels, of the kind used in labelling-machines and comprising a number of depending substantially parallel legs spaced to hold a pile of labels between them, is constructed with some or all of the legs yieldingly urged towards each other along their whole length by means of springs spaced along the selected legs and pressing on them at points at or near their ends ; also the series of legs is carried by a plate or table provided with a number of slots for adjustable location of the legs to suit different sizes and shapes of label. The holder shown in Fig. 1 comprises a plate 1 carrying opposite pairs of twin legs 8 and single legs 8<1> mounted in U-section sheaths 5<1> by pin-and-slot connections 9 for sliding movement under the action of compression springs 10 within the sheaths. As shown in Fig. 2, the plate 1 has radial slots 3 to receive the plain shanks of screws 4 upstanding from the tops of the sheaths 5<1>, for adjustable attachment by wing nuts 7. Gauge pins or projections 6 on the sheaths also project through the slots 3 and are used in conjunction with separate gauge plates having register pins to fit into two holes 12 in the plate 1, in setting the legs to the shape and size of label ; when the labels are in the holder, the corresponding gauge plate is preferably placed on top of the pile.
