Abstract
A fused bath for the cementation of iron and steel consists of an alkaline or alkaline earth cyanide, a fusion-promoting compound such as an alkaline chloride, no or only a little (i.e. less than 10 per cent) barium chloride and 15-30 per cent of barium carbonate. In an example, the bath consists of 45 per cent of sodium cyanide, 25 of sodium chloride and 30 of barium carbonate.
