Abstract

467,683. Fusible cut-outs. BURRELL, C. H. G., and UNNE, F. E. Jan. 20, 1936, No. 1796. [Class 38 (i)] A fuse is renewed by laying a wire 14 across an asbestos pad 9 on the carrier 8, with the ends of the wire lying in slots 11 in the terminals 10, and then tightening the slots by screws 13. The base 1 has a similar asbestos layer 6 so that the fuse wire is held between the two layers in an airtight manner. The contact clips 3 on the base are located in narrow recesses and normally have considerable curvature so that a tight grip is obtained by their straightening when the terminals 10 are inserted. According to the Provisional Specification, the terminals 10 may be constructed from bent metal strip with or without filling blocks or built up from a number of flat elements.
