Abstract

467,590. Eccentrics. GEE, W. J. Dec. 19, 1935, No. 35254. [Class 122 (i)] In a variable-throw eccentric, of the type in which a sheave 11 is transversely movable on a square portion 10 of a shaft 1 by means of an inclined bar 7 movable axially within the shaft, means are provided for taking up wear. As shown, the bar 7 is engaged by shoes 23, 24, having shanks entering sockets in studs 17, 18 adjustable in the sheave and locked by means of studs 27, 28 with lock-nuts 29, 30. An inclined bar 7 for each eccentric is formed in a spindle 31, which is adjustable axially by means of a screw 32 and hand wheel 39. A collar 36 on the screw 32 engages a ball-bearing 37 in a cap 33, on the spindle 31. Rotation of the spindle tends to turn the screw 32 and move the eccentrics to the position of maximum throw.
