Abstract

467,235. Windscreen-wipers. BLANCKENSEE, E. M. Dec. 12, 1935, No. 34488. [Classes 19 and 138 (i)] A windscreen-wiper blade comprises a tubular portion 6 made from flat strip rubber compositions having a thin central portion 1 with ribs 3 and with or without perforations 4 between the ribs so that moisture may pass into the tube 6 and drain away. Parts 2 of the wiper are made relatively thicker than the part 1 and are clamped in a metal holder 5. The tube 6 may be connected to a source of suction such as the induction pipe of the engine or a separate suction motor. To prevent freezing material soaked in glycerine or other suitable liquid may be provided in the hollow tube 6.
