Abstract

466,600. Suspending curtains. FRENCH & SONS, Ltd., T., and FRENCH, G. F. Oct. 26, 1935, Nos. 29585/35 and 4207 /36. [Class 52 (v)] Curtain suspension means comprise a rail a having a single flat flange a<1> at its top edge and supported at its lower part by brackets c, sheet metal runners e to which the curtain is attached being supported on the flange a<1>. The runners have their upper parts hook-shaped as shown, so that they can be hooked horizontally on to the flange a<1> and then turned to the position shown, The part of the runner contacting the flange a' is curved longitudinally or alternatively is provided with a roller through which it contacts this flange and the part of the runner extending below the flange a<1> is also curved longitudinally or is cut away at the corners so that the runner can tilt longitudinally as well as transversely. A runner may be provided with slots in the back portion of the hook, as shown in Fig. 9, or with a screw gripping means e5, e<6>, Fig. 12, whereby the reeving cord is gripped and the runner becomes a master runner. A runner may be fitted with a scraw at its lower end adapted to contact with the lower edge of the rail so that the runner can then be used as an end stop. An arm adapted to carry the curtain may be secured to an end stop so that two adjacent curtains can be overlapped. A sliding overlap fitting, comprising a sheet metal arm having portions hooking over the rail and lying on both sides of the endmost curtain runner, may be provided. Arrangements for guiding the reeving cord are also described.
