464,222. Road-surface boxes. ALLISON, G., RENNIE, A. C., and HOWARTH, A. S. Jan. 13, 1936, No. 1039. [Class 107] The cover 2 of a road-surface box has a flange 2a resting directly upon the top edge or rim 1a of the frame 1, or upon one or more packing- pieces 5 placed on the rim, and is provided with guide members or a sleeve 4 of such length as to remain in engagement with the frame when the packing pieces are employed. The upper face of the cover is adapted to lie flush with the road surface and its periphery is flush with that of the rim of the frame. The packing- pieces may be made in sections and may be secured to the top of the frame or to the flange or sleeve of the cover. A thin liner 6 of graphite paper or incorrodible sheet material may be arranged between the sleeve and the frame. The cover is provided with a removable central cap 3.
