Abstract

464,210. Gauging-apparatus. LAPOINTE MACHINE TOOL CO., Ltd., and BONNAFE, O. W. Oct. 16, 1935, No. 28608. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge for use in the measurement of grooved, serrated, or splined shafts comprises a metal body a having a central bore with inwardly directed projections b conforming in shape, dimensions and pitch with the grooves, splines, &c. in the shaft, and flat surfaces d formed on the said body parallel to grooves C, C of standard dimensions and mutual inclination. In the form shown, the grooves make an angle of 60‹ with each other and the projections b are 120‹ apart. The gauge is applied to the shaft with the projections h engaging the grooves, and the curved portion l serves as a base from which the depth of the groove in the shaft can be measured.
