[Class 39 (i)] The ignition electrode, which dips permanently into the liquid cathode and consists of a material having a high electrical resistance, is shaped to present one or more acuteangled edges to the cathode. It may consist of a prism or cylinder which is wedge-shaped or tapered to a point. A triangular prism may have its sides hollowed out or fluted or provided with triangular or trapezoidal grooves. In another form, the electrode has a cross-section which is bounded by two convex surfaces meeting along sharp-edges.
