Abstract

462,562. Dart-boards and like targets. WRIGHT, W. Nov. 16, 1935, No. 31737. [Class 132 (iii)] A method of constructing a dart-board or like target, consists in laying lengths of fibrous material, such as straw, hemp, bass, &c., on to a sheet or on to bands of material such as paper, rubber, woven fibrous material, &c., so as to support the lengths between adjacent convolutions of the rolled sheet or bands, and cutting the product transversely so that the ends of the lengths of fibrous material are presented on each of the playing surfaces of a target so produced. As shown in Fig. 1, the lengths 10 of straw &c. are fed on the sheet 11, as it is rolled, and are cemented by adhesive solution from nozzles 13. Doublesided targets are cut off along the planes 15. In modifications, the lengths 10 are secured to the sheet by means of interposed adhesive ribbons or by forming the sheet of heat-soluble material. The sheet may be replaced by a number of narrow bands. In a further modification, Fig. 5, the lengths 10 are wound in flexible steel bands 23 ... 26 which are removed for re-use, after slicing off the boards.
