Abstract

462,488. Converting. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ESPLEY, D. C. Nov. 27, 1935, No. 32889. [Class 38 (ii)] In television &c. apparatus using cathode ray tubes, D.C. of at least 1000 volts for application to the tube is obtained from D.C. mains 21, 22 by using a valve oscillator 1 the frequency of which is determined by a tuned circuit 2, 3 to energize a step-up transformer 10 the secondary of which is connected to the load circuit terminals 15, 20 through a rectifier 14 and smoothing elements 17, 18, 19. The oscillator may be locked in synchronism with the television signals by applying synchronizing impulses to terminals 7, 8. Alternatively, where the D.C. supply 21, 22 is rectified A.C. which is synchronized with the synchronizing impulses, the ripple in the D.C. supply may be relied on to effect the desired frequency stabilization of the oscillator.
