[Class 99 (i)] In pipe joints of the type wherein a clamping- ring is movable axially of the pipe to apply sealing pressure to an annular gasket surrounding the pipe, the ring is of adjustable size and comprises a number of arcuate sections having at their ends a series of shoulders, the sections being joined by connectors having shoulders adapted to co-operate with selected shoulders of the sections. As shown, a ring for applying pressure to a rubber or reinforced-rubber gasket 13, Fig. 6, for sealing a joint between a spigot 10 and a socket 11, is made in three sections the adjacent ends of which have ribs on both sides of an horizontal flange 20, Fig. 2, thus providing shoulders 25 ... 28. A connector 31, one half of which is shown in Fig. 3, has shoulders 34, 35 adapted to be engaged with the inner shoulders 26, 28, the outer shoulders 25, 27, or one pair of inner shoulders and one pair of outer shoulders. Clamping pressure is provided by bolts 14 acting on dogs 42 engaging with hooks 36 on the connectors 31, similar dogs being provided to engage hooks on the sections 17. A bull-ring 15 may be made in sections to allow for corresponding adjustment in diameter, the ends having interengaging teeth. The ribs on the ring-sections may terminate short of the edge of the flange 20 and may be tapered slightly; also, the flange 20 may be polygonal. The bolt-holes in the ring 15, the sections 17, or in both, may be oval to allow for faulty alignment, and the nuts may have spherical faces engaging spherical seats. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the connectors 31 are dispensed with, each section having a hooded portion at one end adapted to be engaged with selected shoulders on the adjacent end of the next section.
