462,147. Vibrating - apparatus for concrete roads. THIELE, F. Jan. 15, 1936, No. 1364. Convention date, Jan. 15, 1935. [Class 107] A vibrating and levelling machine for use in' the construction of concrete roads comprises a cylinder 1 which is rotated in the opposite direction to the road wheels and is vibrated by an eccentrically mounted mass 3 on a rapidly rotating shaft 2. In the construction shown, the cylinder is coupled to a traction engine 6 by attachments 5 and is mounted on hollow trunnions 11 through which the shaft 2 passes. These trunnions also carry the supporting wheels 9 which run on side rails 10. By means of a chain 8 and a sprocket 14 fixed to a trunnion 11, the engine rotates the cylinder in the direction of the arrow 15, and by means of a chain or belt 7 the engine also drives the shaft 2. The vibrations of the shaft are transmitted to the cylinder by cross-arms 4.
