Abstract

462,140. Colour photography. KODAK, Ltd., and JELLEY, E. E. Sept. 7, 1935, No. 24975. [Class 98 (ii)] A colour developer contains either a formaldehyde sulphoxylate, a hydrazine compound or a hydroxylamine compound as preservative substances which overcome the action of the oxygen in the air to produce undesirable coupling in the developer. The colour developer preferably contains an aromatic amino developing agent, e.g. p-aminodiethylaniline monohydrochloride or diethyl-p-phenylenediamine hydrochloride, and a colour coupler, e.g. o-hydroxy-diphenyl, #-naphthoyl acetonitrile. Other developing agents are o-phenyl-phenol or acetoacet - 2 : 5 - dichloranilide. Caustic alkalies, e.g. sodium hydroxide are included in the developing solution in order to prevent salting out. Examples of colour developing compositions for red, blue, or yellow are given in the Specification. Specification 341,183 is referred to.
