Abstract
461,295. Inflatable body attachments. FYFE, R. Oct. 30, 1935, Nos. 29929/35 and 2954/36. [Class 77] In a buoyant body attachment adapted to support the body of the wearer in a substantially horizontal position, an inflatable member 1 which at least partly surrounds and supports the neck, and a second inflatable member 2 which extends across the front or back of the body, are joined midway between their ends by a central inflatable member 3 which extends centrally along the breast or back of the wearer. An inflatable pocket 1<a> may be provided on the member 1 to support the chin. Straps may be provided on the members 1, 2. The member 1 may be semicircular in plan, and the member 2 may be V-shaped as shown, and its front and rear walls may be vulcanized or otherwise secured together at 12 so that it will adjust itself more readily to the body. Alternatively, the member 1 only, or both the members 1, 2,may be rectangular and may have their walls joined to facilitate bending. The connecting member 3 may be composed of two telescopic tubes held together by the air pressure. One form of attachment with a V-shaped member 2 is made of stiffer material adjacent the body so that the members 1, 2 curve to fit the body when inflated. The members 1, 2 may be inflatable separately or as shown by a common valve 4.
