Abstract

461,273. Television. JOHNSTONE, D. M., and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd. Aug. 14, 1935, No. 22902. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] To produce trains of synchronizing impulses, an alternating potential is applied in phase opposition to a pair of valves 1, 2, which are so controlled that only one operates during one train of impulses, but each in turn operates during successive trains, and the outputs are combined. The valves are rendered normally inoperative by a negative grid bias 4 and alternatively operative by a square-wave potential of such value as to overcome partially the negative bias on alternate valves during successive half cycles. The wave length of the square wave is exactly an even integral multiple of that of the sinusoidal alternating potential. The input circuits of the valves are in push-pull, and the valves have a common anode resistance 5. Specification 437,339 is referred to.
