[Class 27] Articles stored in separate compartments.- In a coin-freed vending-machine having a number of goods-containing compartments access to which is obtained through a door released after the insertion of a coin, the compartments are divided into smaller spaces, each containing goods, access to the inner small space being had by the purchaser when the door is closed after the completion of a purchase from the outer space and the insertion of another coin. Each compartment comprises top and bottom walls 1, 2 and is closed by a door 3 hinged at 4 and having an exterior handle 5. The door is connected by links 17, 18 to an axle 19 carrying a disc 20 an abutment 21 on which engages a pin 22 on a vertical rod 23. The rod 23 in known manner is normally locked and cannot be moved upwards to allow the door to be opened unless a coin has been inserted. The compartment is divided into two spaces 7, 8 by an inclined plate 6 having its upper edge resting against a shoulder 9 on the top wall 1 and its lower edge resting, by means of a shoe 10, on the bottom wall 2. A hook 11 abuts against a shoulder 12 on one arm 13 of a bell-crank lever pivoted at 14 and having its other arm 15 connected to a slotted link 16. The shoulder 12 normally prevents the plate from falling down under the weight of goods in the space 8. A pin 24 on the disc 20 engages in the slot 25 in the link 16, this slot having on its upper side an abutment 25a. When the door 3 is opened to obtain goods from the space 7, the pin 24 travels in the slot 25 and, during the closing of the door, contacts with the upper side of the slot and engages the abutment 25a thereby rocking the lever 13, 14 to release the hook 11 and allow the plate 6 to fall. When another coin is inserted and the door again opened, the goods in the space 8 are accessible. Filling storage compartments.-A rod 26 with shoulders 27 is provided for raising the links 16 to allow the plate 6 to be manipulated into its inclined position when the compartments are being filled with goods.
