460,141. Photo-mechanical printing- surfaces. REDDIE, L. N. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Nederlandsch Laboratorium de Spaarhestad) June 18, 1935, No. 17573. [Class 98 (ii)] In a process for transferring silver halide colloid layers, especially silver bromide pigment papers, to a surface for use in preparing printing forms, the exposed but undeveloped layers are transferred in a dry condition, being superficially moistened with sufficient moisture to cause adherence between the lavers and the surface and the developing and hardening is carried out thereon in known manner, the carrier for the layers consisting of porous unsized paper e.g. blotting paper. The moistening may be carried out by means of the developer or of its alkaline constituent. The layer after transfer, developing, hardening, and if desired washing with warm water may be used as an etching resist or the gelatin relief itself may form the printing surface, e.g. for imbibition printing or printing from the hardened parts using a fatty ink.
