Abstract

460,040. Dynamo-electric machines. ALLISON, A. July 25, 1935, No. 21206. [Class 35] Cores.-In order to secure rotor laminµ to the shaft their inner edges are bent over and straightened out when the laminµ are in place so as to grip the shaft. For this purpose the laminae are formed with radial slots 4, Fig. 2, at their inner edges which allow the edges to bend when forced over the shaft 1. The laminae are then compressed between plates 9, 10, Fig. 1, by means of nuts 14 threaded on bolts 8 passing freely through the laminae and the plate 10, thus straightening the edges. To remove the laminae the bolts 8 are disengaged from the plate 9 and the plate 10 is reversed and caused to grip the laminae by the nut 14 and a nut 13 on the other end of the bolt; a shoulder 16 on the plate 10 then bends the inner edges of the laminae over so that they can be removed from the shaft. In a modification, the bolts 8 are dispensed with and the pressure applied by a nut on the shaft 1, which is threaded for the purpose.
