[Classes 112 and 141] [See also Group XXV] A row of headed snap-fastener elements are securely stitched to a strip of tape through which their heads project to engage complemental elements arranged with their faces on another strip. The heads 5 of the elements 2 are passed through spaced openings in the tape 1 the edges 3 of which are turned in. The fastener sockets 13 are similarly arranged at gaps 15 in a strip of tape 14 with folded edges. The fastener elements are secured by a line of stitches 7, and offset stitches 8, Fig. 4, passing through the apertures 6 in the bases of the fasteners. The strips may be secured to the folded edges of a garment C by lines of stitches 12. One edge of the tape may be folded to enclose the edge of the garment, or the tape may project beyond the edge of the garment. Forms of folding the tape to vary the number of plies on the face of the fasteners, and various arrangements of stitching to secure the fasteners are described in the Specification. The socket 72 of the fastener shown in Fig. 26 has a convex base 115 which projects into the aperture in the tape. In a modification the head and socket parts 82, 75, Fig. 30, of fasteners are arranged alternately on the tapes.
