459,196. Photographic cameras combined with exposure meters. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES., 72, Schandauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Aug. 15, 1935, No. 22995. Convention date, Aug. 16, 1934. [Class 98 (i)] In a camera wherein a photo-electric exposure-meter is coupled with the diaphragm and shutter adjusting devices, the coupling includes a series of resistance elements having different specific resistances in order to correlate the scales of the meter and the devices adjusted. The elements may be formed of sprayed carbon dust. As shown, a photo-electric cell 7 and galvanometer 8 are connected to arms 3, 6 wiping over curved resistance members 2, 5 one having diaphragm graduations 1 and the other shutter-speed graduations 4. Movement of the pointer 3 sets the iris diaphragm of the objective, and movement of the pointer 6 sets the camera shutter. To allow for the non-uniform spacing of the diaphragm graduations, the resistance member 2 is built up of a series of parts 2a, 2b, 2c ... having increasing specific resistances. The shutter-speed scale 4 has uniform graduation and the resistance member 5 is of uniform resistance for use with diaphragm shutters ; but a modification is described for use with roller-blind shutters wherein the pointer 6 moves over a non-uniform shutter scale, and the resistance member 5 is graded, like the member 2. Other factors, such as plate or film speed, can be allowed for as described in Specification 442,409.
