Abstract
459,089. Firegrates. JONG, A. DE, 7, Hoflaan, Vlaardingen, and LEEMING, J. H. J., 21, Plein Eendracht, Schiedam, both in Holland. Feb. 28, 1936, No. 6067. [Class 51 (i)] A furnace is provided with transverse firebars 6 having teeth 8 on their lower edges forming air passages 18 and on their front or rear faces projections defining air spaces between the bars and a trough 16 beneath the grate filled with water to a level somewhat above the lower ends of the teeth 8. The width of the firebars decreases downwardly and the teeth 8 may be extended upwardly, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, to provide reinforcing ribs on one side of the bar or may terminate at the lower edge of the bar, as shown in Fig. 4. The bars are clamped by tie rods to terminal bars. The air passages 18 are supplied with air from a box at the front of the ashpit and a tunnel is provided extending from the trough through the air box and provided with a cleaning door.
